Aftercare

Chemicals will not help you heal faster! In fact, the opposite is true, your body is made to heal on its own. Chemicals of any kind will upset the balance with-in your newly forming cells and create a condition in which your piercing will heal more slowly. Therefore, DO NOT use ANY product marked “for external use only” including but not limited to rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Bac-tine, ear care solutions, Neosporin, Betadine, or Hibiclens.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR PIERCING: Wash your hands before touching your piercing! Use either our aftercare spray or saline solution for your piercing for the entire healing time. Do this even if your piercing looks or feels healed sooner. Use aftercare spray, 2-3 times daily for the amount of time specified for your piercing. Most importantly after a shower or a bath. Your piercer will advise you of any additional aftercare products or jewelry adjustments you may need during your healing time.

  •

  • WHAT TO AVOID:

  • Avoid over-cleaning. This will irritate your piercing and delay your healing.

  • Avoid undue trauma such as excessive motion of the area, friction from clothing, playing with the jewelry, and vigorous cleaning. These activities can cause uncomfortable and unsightly scar tissue, prolonged healing, migration, and other complications.

  • Avoid playing with your new piercing, physical irritation is the worst!

  • Avoid recreational drug use, nicotine, alcohol, and excessive caffeine.

  • Avoid submerging your piercing in bodies of water (lakes, hot tubs, pools, etc.).

  • Avoid beauty products around or on your piercing including, lotions, sprays, and cosmetics.

Remember: Wash hands thoroughly before touching your piercing or the area around it. Bacteria can spread very quickly, so touching just the skin close by with unwashed hands can ultimately cause complications. Washing your hands frequently and thoroughly is the #1 way to promote healthy piercings.

Your jewelry will most likely be too long after 3+ months, at which time having your piercer change out your barbells is recommended, although this time frame can vary.
